Side Quests
A free, entirely vibe-coded job hunting tool to help individuals mine their networks, and use weighted probability to increase their chances of landing three job offers in the same week. I developed and battle-tested this methodology years ago, but was inspired to turn it into a product for others after seeing several friends impacted by the recent waves of layoffs.
The Influence Project
If you understand the influences that inspired your favorite music, books, films, etc., it deepens your appreciation for that work, and provides a pathway of discovery to new art and artists. My wife and I started mapping these influence connections years ago, and developed a college curriculum to teach cultural history and literacy in a new way. We’re in our third year of teaching the class at UCLA.
Resculpting History
In 2005 I saw my first Chinese Puzzle Ball (circa 1827) at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Carved from a single piece of ivory, it has 11 free-moving concentric layers, each with a unique and complex design. It was the most beautiful handmade object I’d ever seen. 15 years later, I embarked upon recreating one with modern materials and tools (mostly 3D-printing) and was honored to share my work in person with the V&A East Asia curation team in 2024.
A lifelong passion that, these days, mostly takes the form of drawing for my kids, or drawing people’s dogs. That’s my dog, Archie, above. He’s the best. Here’s my Instagram portfolio.
